Music and lyrics adapted in 1935 by A. Marcus Cagle (1884-1968).

One of the most stirring of 20th-century Sacred Harp compositions, Soar away was written by Cagle, a shape-note theoretician who contributed tunes to four editions of the Sacred Harp over a span of 55 years.
