Siphamandla is a song of hope. Bongani writes: "In 2005 I was employed by JL Zwane centre in Gugulethu township in Capetown South Africa. They were looking for someone to write educational songs about HIV/AIDS. I was required to attend a support group (people living with HIV/AIDS) once a week, so I could listen to their true stories as I had to write educational songs with strong messages. After listening to their stories for the first time, I just said to myself, what they need is hope and strength so they can live as long as they wish. Because most of them were worried of dying before taking care of their kids, parents etc. and especially those that are bread winners in their families."
