about

The 'Midnight Mass for Christmas Eve' by Marc Antoine Charpentier (1643-1794) is perhaps his most popular piece, not surprisingly, as each of the movements is based on the tune of a different delightful French Chrismas noel. We love this early baroque repertoire but in Vermont where we live there is one baroque string player within a fifty mile radius. So we have become adept at working out alternate instrumentations for works from this period.
